{"id":12399,"date":"2019-11-08T16:03:21","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T16:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.charpak.uk\/?p=12399"},"modified":"2019-12-02T15:37:20","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T15:37:20","slug":"innovation-of-the-year-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.charpak.uk\/?p=12399","title":{"rendered":"Innovation of the Year 2019 Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charpak Ltd are delighted to be announced as <strong>Winners of the Innovation of the Year 2019<\/strong> at the UK Packaging Awards.\u00a0 Our ground-breaking <strong>Twist-Loc\u00ae<\/strong> Treat Tub success follows on from <strong>Winning SME of the Year 2018<\/strong>.\u00a0 The Charpak team collected this latest accolade on Thursday 7<sup>th<\/sup> November 2019 at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Innovation of the Year 2019 category was one of the fiercely contested categories with three companies receiving Highly Commended, and 8 shortlisted Finalists.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Twist-Loc\u00ae was designed specifically to:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Replace<\/strong> \u2018new\u2019 plastic with a recycled product to prevent plastic waste.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Remove<\/strong> micro-plastics. There&#8217;s no small plastic break-off-parts because the tamper-evident mechanism is integrated within the pack.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Reduce<\/strong> plastic Each Tub uses 7.5g less plastic per tub than the packaging it replaced.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Reuse<\/strong> existing materials.\u00a0Twist-Loc\u00ae is made from up to 90% recycled PET plastic material.\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Recycle<\/strong> The removable cardboard sleeve also means 100% of<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the packaging can be recycled.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Reuse <\/strong>The Tubs can be reused by customers at home before being recycled again and re-made into another Twist-Loc\u00ae Tub, other packaging, or something else.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/32qY8Ez\">UK Packaging Awards<\/a> Judges commended Charpak\u2019s excellence for \u201cits use of highly recycled content; and the packaging design.\u00a0 The pack is both easy to open and recognisable (particularly for older people or those with limited dexterity.\u00a0 Because of the format it will be reused in the home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director, Paul Smith confirmed:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cWe are delighted our commitment to developing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.charpak.uk\/latest-news\/twist-loc\/\">Twist-Loc\u00ae Tub<\/a> was supported by Waitrose &amp; Partners as the first UK supermarket to launch with our new packaging.
